In January 1906, The West Briton labelled Truro City the “all reds” in a match report of their Cornwall Charity Cup game with Newquay and in February 1906, The West Briton called Truro City, The Reds in match reports of their Cornwall Senior Cup ties with Camborne Town and Penzance.
In living memory, Truro City Football Club have traditionally played in the colours of red and black, be it red and black stripes, red and black quarters or red shirts with a black trim with the exception of the mid 1960’s when Truro City copied Plymouth Argyle by wearing white shirts with a red and black waistband, the only difference being that Argyle had a green and black waistband.
All this changed in 2004, when businessman and Tottenham Hotspur fan Kevin Heaney bought the club and changed Truro’s red and black kit to all white and that colour has remained since with the exception of the 2014-2015 season when Truro switched back to playing in red and black as their home colours to celebrate their 125th anniversary.
In 2024 with the new stadium on the outskirts of Truro being built, the new stand is decked out in the colours of red and black, and fans of Truro City Football Club hope the team returns to playing in those famous colours once more…

The Kevin Heaney Era
The man responsible for changing Truro City Football Club’s traditional colours of red and black to all white because he was a Tottenham Hotspur fan, bought the club in 2004.
Truro City Football Club gained five promotions in six seasons and were FA Vase winners during The Kevin Heaney Era but all this was to come at a price…

The Peter Masters Era
Peter Masters and Philip Perryman paid a £50,000 bond to the Football Conference in October 2012 after former chairman Kevin Heaney went bankrupt, didn’t pay players wages for months, the club faced a winding up order after unpaid taxes, the High Court was told of debts of more than £700,000 were owed, Truro City Football Club entered administration and received a ten point deduction from the Football Conference South for doing so. Cheers Kev!

For Truro City Football Club’s 125th anniversary celebrations in 2014, the club decided to wear red and black as the choice for the home colours, it paid off as City gained promotion via the play-offs!
On 7th October 2014, Truro City headed to Poole Town for a league match but their kit clashed with Poole’s so in an emergency Truro City wore orange shirts as a one-off, hence the lack of supplier and sponsor logos on the shirts, it didn’t pay dividends though as City lost 3-0.
